Christine Stuttig
Treasurer and Chief Operating Officer

Christine Stuttig is the Treasurer and Chief Operating Officer of Barrett Asset Management. She joined the firm in 2010 after 25 years with Griffin Asset Management, Inc., where she was Office Manager, Treasurer and Corporate Secretary.

Upon her graduation from the Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education and Economics, she began her career working as a secretary in the Financial Policy and Corporate Planning Departments of Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A. Subsequently, due to her interest in finance, she transferred to Chase Investors Management Corporation (CIMC). Working her way up, she was promoted to account assistant, a first for a woman at the time, thereby paving the way for many others to follow in her footsteps.

After six years of administering investment accounts for U.S. and international clients at CIMC, Chris joined the firm of Hovey, Youngman Associates, Inc., a small investment advisory firm located in New York. As an account administrator for one of the two principal partners, she continued to build her expertise and knowledge of Wall Street. Soon after joining Hovey, Youngman, while continuing her responsibilities as an account administrator, Chris became Office Manager, overseeing the firm’s daily operations including the management of human resources, employee benefits, payroll, the company's real estate needs and its accounting. Promotion to Corporate Secretary and Treasurer followed.

In the more than two decades that Chris spent at Hovey, Youngman, she played a key role in helping the company grow into a successful investment management firm, including its transformation into a larger enterprise by way of its acquisition of another investment advisory company and its resultant name change to Griffin Asset Management, Inc.

Born and raised in the Bronx, Chris currently makes her home on City Island, NY. There, she lives with her husband, Bill, and a rescued black lab named Eli. She and Bill enjoy collecting wine and love traveling to out-of-the-way wineries in California as well as taking occasional cruises to different parts of the world. On weekends, she enjoys gardening and cooking and spending warm, cell-phone-free afternoons walking with Bill and Eli on a quiet stretch of beach near her home.
