John is a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Barrett. Before joining Barrett in the spring of 2010 he was a Managing Director and CFO at Griffin Asset Management where over a fifteen year period he developed his reputation as a financial problem solver for clients.

He began his career in 1991 as a Registered Representative at Kidder, Peabody & Co., where he spent four years working with and providing investment advice to high-net-worth individuals, families and institutions. His expertise includes the design and implementation of customized investment strategies utilizing equities, fixed income, options, and futures.

John is an avid collector of Bermuda stamps and brings the focus and necessary attention to detail of a philatelist to his work as an investment analyst. Among his other interests is the development of investment products specifically geared toward the long-term care of individuals with special needs.

Although originally a New York City boy who attended St. Bernard's School on 98th Street, John currently lives in New Canaan, Connecticut with his wife Gina and their two daughters. He enjoys the outdoors and is a jack-of-all trades, master-of-none when it comes to sports.

John is a graduate of Middlebury College where he received a B.A. in English with a concentration in Economics and Investments. He is a former Director of Composite Materials, LLC and is Treasurer of one of Barrett's two mutual funds.
