John D. Barrett II

John joined Barrett Asset Management in 1970, when he took over from the firm’s Founder and his father, C. Redington Barrett. Today, he is honored as Chairman Emeritus and serves as an Advisor to the firm and continues his relationships with clients.

Before joining Barrett, John was a Vice President and Director of Clark, Dodge & Co., an investment banking firm. He was active in the investment advisory, research and sales groups at Clark, Dodge & Co., and was responsible for the management of portfolios for many of the firm’s major institutional clients, including banks, mutual funds, pension funds, foundations and insurance companies, in addition to individual clients. John is a former Director of the Morgan Stanley International Funds and of The Ashforth Company.

John holds a BA in American Studies from Yale University and an MBA, with a concentration in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He served as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Greenwich Hospital Association and of the Greenwich Country Day School, both of Greenwich, CT. Lifelong residents of Greenwich, John and his wife, Lucy, enjoy traveling and spending time with their three children and eight grandchildren.
